The moulded rubber floor comprises solid rubber mats made from re-cycled car tyres, bonded to the sheet metal floor with a polyurethane binder and coated with a urethane skin, that provides the non slip finish and protects the rubber cushioning from wear & tear. Compared to other manufacturers bits of wood with mats loosely laid on top, our flooring system is designed and built for long term durability. Paint System:
The painting process of our floats provides the best long term protection
due to superior system we use. Prior to any painting taking place, the
entire float is "Orbital" sanded to provide a keyed surface for the
paint system to adhere onto. Once the sanding is completed, all the
seams are sealed with a polyurethane
sealer, a 2Pak Epoxy primer is applied,
followed by 2x coats of High Build primer which is sanded to obtain
the smooth finish, prior to 4x coats of 2Pak Acrylic
urethane top coats being applied. Compare this to some other manufacturers, and you will find this system is the best available to adhere to galvanised metal, and offer long term high gloss levels with durability. Suspension & Brakes: When we design and build our floats, we use the right sized brakes and suspension for the intended usage and licensed capacity. Other manufacturers scrimp in this area due to the prices they sell their floats for. The minimum suspension we use on a tandem float is a 2 x Tonne "Rocker" type with the brakes being cable operated "Disc" type (which are commonly used on boat trailers due to their robust design that allows them to be immersed in salt water & still keep on remaining serviceable for many years). On the larger floats we use a 2.5 Tonne "Rocker" type of suspension with 4x wheel "Electric drum" brakes and electric "Break-a Way" system. The larger angle load floats use a more sophisticated "Roller-Rocker" type with increased capacity, bigger axles, bearings, hubs and brakes all matched to the capacity of the float. We don't use or recommend the rubber "Torsion" type suspension offered by many other manufacturers as they are inferior in durability, softening of the internal rubber beads lets the stub axle "wander" and leads to excessive, premature wear of your expensive Light Truck Tyres. There is no substitute for quality in this area. The main reason they have become popular amongst some builders, is because of their low initial cost. Wheels: All the wheels and tyres are brand new. Tyres are light truck with the appropriate rating for the floats licensed capacity. No re-treads or T.U.O (Trailer Use Only) tyres are used. Fibre Glass Roofs: All of our roofs are hand layed for consistency of thickness, the gelcoat is applied sufficiently thick enough to have a nice shine & not be see-through. We have our own moulds including a "Wide-Body" mould to suit the angle load floats.(No bits of sheet metal grafted into the middle of a standard width roof to make it wide enough to suit angle load width floats) All roofs are made by us to keep control of the quality. The Bottom Line: "Our floats are built to a standard, not a price." |
